Bored with your long weekend daytime runs? Looking for a bit of excitement for your exercise regime? Bit of a raver? Then a new series of races from Nike could be right up your street.

Called We Own the Night, Nike’s new 10K series for women will get underway this month in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Milan, and Paris, with the race kicking off as late as 10pm in some cities and always ending in a party. Puma Mobium Elites look to provide purrrrfect performance

Miaow…

Have you ever watched your cat sprint around the house and leap wherever it wants? That agility is definitely something to envy, and it seems that the boys over at Puma certainly agree.

New Brooks survey reveals waaaaay more about our running and personal habits than we ever thought possible…

Running = the solution to all your relationship problems?

We’ve always heard that the mark of a good runner is the ability to carry on a conversation whilst running. And it seems that those that can do just that have rather a lot to talk about…

A new survey from Brooks Running Company has found that guys enjoy chatting on the run more than their female counterparts. More than three-quarters (76 per cent) of men surveyed passed the time by discussing their team’s latest performance (sports, 51 per cent) or their cool new gadgets (34 per cent).

Ladies, on the other hand, choose to use their running time as therapy – and are most likely to talk about relationships (47 per cent), both the good and the bad. Surprisingly, all runners ranked their happenings in the bedroom as their least favourite running topic.

Kinomap app lets you run the London Marathon from the safety of your own living room

This Sunday sees the biggest running event in the UK, the Virgin London Marathon. But for those of us unlucky enough not to have got a place in the race, there is still a way to take part in the race – and you don’t even have to head to the capital.

Kinomap Trainer is a tool that offers geolocated videos and GPS routes uploaded by other users for you to run, row or cycle from the comfort of your own home or gym.

Place yourself in the midst of the marathon – from the comfort of your bedroom

In the case of the London Marathon, you can strap your iOS device to a running machine (similar to the Zone Dome we featured recently) and try to match the pace and running experience of the video as it was originally recorded along the 2012 event. An overhead view will also show an icon travelling along the route.

Dream Playlist? We investigate Marie Claire’s “Nine Best Running Songs Ever”

This week’s Marie Claire featured an ambitious article entitled “The Nine Best Running Songs Ever”, picked by staff at the publication (although the article link awkwardly only includes eight songs…)

Now we at TR have a rather vested interest in music, with our own “Running Playlist” numbering over 1000 songs in order to ensure no kind of repetition. The list features a bit of everything – Rock, Rap, Indie, Pop, and even some Funk – it’s what keeps us going! With this in mind, we thought the readers of TR and Marie Claire could probably benefit from some better choices.

So with our alternative music hats on, we investigate and evaluate Marie Claire staff’s picks and come up with some other tunes we think you’d really much rather prefer…
